Continental Automotive Selects Optimal Electronics’ Optel Component Traceability, Material Management and Optimized Dynamic Scheduling Solutions For Deployment at Seguin Texas Assembly Plant
AUSTIN, TX – June 21, 2010 – Optimal Electronics, a global provider of innovative software solutions for the control and optimization of the electronics assembly process, announced today that the company will be providing manufacturing execution system (MES) solutions for Continental Automotive’s assembly plant located in Seguin, Texas.
Continental Automotive selected Optimal Electronics’ Optel Component Traceability solution for plant-wide deployment across all of its high volume production lines. Continental also plans to implement the company’s Optel Material Management and Optimized Dynamic Scheduling solutions across all of the Seguin facility’s low volume, high mix production lines.
With Optel’s component traceability and setup verification capabilities, Continental can achieve new levels of efficiency by streamlining online and offline machine setup and verification processes, and automating traceability for all components and assembly steps. Traceability data can be collected in real-time, machine setup time dramatically reduced, component tracking significantly improved, and wrong component placement can be eliminated. This automated traceability approach improves quality, simplifies the product recall process, ensures compliance, and delivers faster return on investment.
Continental will utilize the Optel Material Management and Optimized Dynamic Scheduling solutions to address the company’s growing need for higher mix, lower volume production. These new capabilities will enable Continental to increase production capacity, minimize changeovers, and reduce the resource requirements and headcount needed to support its high mix/low volume production lines.

"We evaluated all of the industry leading software solutions during our search for a new tool to manage our PCB assembly process. Optel was the only software capable of successfully modeling our production processes and practices (group setups, data management of multiple machines, etc.) utlizing legacy data and actually producing boards during our trials. Optimal Electronics continues to impress us with their abilities to deliver innovative new features and provide outstanding technical support."
