Optimal Electronics Delivers Enhanced Traceability and Production Scheduling Capabilities Through Integration with Siemens SIPLACE SMT Equipment

AUSTIN, TEXAS – July 29, 2011 – Optimal Electronics, a global provider of innovative software solutions for the control and optimization of the electronics assembly process, announced today that the company has completed its Optel integration for Siemens SIPLACE SMT Equipment. This new integration will allow Optimal Electronics’ customers to utilize Optel’s OIB (Operations Information Broker) interface for information exchange across the entire range of SIPLACE SMT placement machines.

Optel’s new integration capabilities deliver significant production gains by providing a comprehensive approach that eliminates production mistakes that arise from data communication problems and enables faster machine program generation. Multiple manufacturing plants, both domestic and international, are utilizing the new Optel / Siemens SIPLACE integration to enhance key production operations such as improved materials, process and quality traceability, as well as production scheduling optimization.

Working with Optel’s OIB interface to Siemens’ SIPLACE software, companies can achieve new levels of efficiency by streamlining online and offline machine setup and verification processes, and automating traceability for all components and assembly steps. Traceability data can be collected in real-time, machine setup time dramatically reduced, component tracking significantly improved, and wrong component placement can be eliminated. This automated traceability approach improves quality, simplifies the product recall process, ensures compliance, and delivers faster return on investment.

Our high mix PCB manufacturing environment benefits from Optel's powerful dynamic scheduling algorithms, coupled with its machine optimization and program generation capabilities.  Integrating Optel into our broader MES architecture helps us better balance multiple assembly lines, automatically program a variety of machines, and schedule setups instead of work orders. Schedule control and visibility is an important aspect of our strategy for cost-effective electronic assembly in North America, and Optel compliments the capabilities of our own plant-wide information applications, the FactoryTalk Production and Performance Suite.
